New Family Photos by Craig

Family 5K

On Wednesday at Olive's first soccer practice, we learned that one of the teammates' moms is in the advanced stages of cancer, specifically angiosarcoma. They were holding a 5K to raise money for her this morning, so I signed us up and we all went bright and early to run. Chris pushed the quad stroller the whole 3+ miles with George and Penelope in it. Olive spent about half the time in the stroller and the other half walking or running. But Lucy ran almost the entire thing! I kept asking her if she wanted to get in the stroller, and she kept saying, "Let's keep running, Mom!" She would slow down to walk now and then, but then when someone would pass us she would start running again. And she only got into the stroller for a few brief minutes. I was so proud of that little girly! I loved having our family do the run together, it was really neat. When the kids asked why we were doing it, Chris said, "Because that's what you signed up for when you joined this family; the Barragans help people." I loved that, and I hope we live up to it as a family.

Swim!

Today was the girls' first day of swim, Lucy in Level 1 and Olive in Level 2B. When we got there George wanted in on the action, so I asked if he could join in next time. The lady did us one better - she gave me a swim diaper and said he could swim in his regular shorts today. He was thrilled. So he's in Level 1 with Lucy. Penelope and I sat in the bleachers and chatted while they had their classes. Fun!
