Sick Sick Sick

So, the kids have been sick with one thing or another for a million days straight. First it was the typical boogers and coughing stuff. Then Olive caught the cousins' stomach bug and vomited all over her bed. Thankfully it was one and done, and double thankfully no one else got it beyond some mild diarrhea. Then, back to the boogers and coughing, it took a sharp turn for the worse when the boogers started showing up in their eyes. All 4 of them got conjunctivitis. Thankfully,  Rhett just called in a prescription for us and their eyes cleared up quickly. I'm still putting the medicine on though because, gosh that was gross, and I really don't want it to resurface. Then Olive started complaining about pain in her ears. Between that and the fact that Penelope's going on 6 weeks of congestion, I decided to take them to see the doctor. Sure enough, Olive has an ear infection,  so she's starting antibiotics today. The doctor said that, although it's cause for concern that Penelope's cold has lasted this long, there really isn't much to do since she has no fever or other symptoms. We just have to wait it out. So, although I wish we had more of a resolution to that, I'm glad I at least had her looked at and that there might be an end in sight to all this garbage. Needless to say, I'm repeatedly disinfecting this house like a mad woman. And now all I need is to have my own sinus infection clear up, and to get Chris home to us from his trip.

Zombies and Cupcakes

I read Warm Bodies for my book club book this month. It's a zombie love story; the book is lame, but the movie was good. Anyway, I made these cupcakes with bloody brain frosting. They also had a cherry pie filling center so when you bit into it, it would be like a gushy blood clot. Sounds horrific, but they were really yummy!

Papa & Oatsie's 40th Anniversary

Papa and Oatsie had their 40th anniversary on February 10th. Months of planning came into fruition as all their children and grandchildren, and two of their closest couple friends, the Pitigers and the Forchinis, came in to town for the weekend. I think they knew all the kids and grandkids would be here when they got here on Friday night, but when they laid eyes on their old friends, their reactions were priceless. Oatsie cried, and Papa said, "Holy s***!" It was a really fun weekend. Saturday we went bowling; P&O were on a bowling team together when they were dating, so this was our little tribute to their young love. Then we had a nice luncheon at the hotel in town, and everyone got a chance to say a few words in P&O's honor. The rest of the time was spent hanging out and catching up, and it was wonderful! Such a great weekend!

Dam Short Film Festival

Chris and Craig's movie, The Resolution, was accepted into the Dam Short Film Festival here in Boulder City. It's a really big deal that they got in, and I'm so proud of them. And seeing the movie on the big screen, with a hundred strangers watching - and laughing, heartily - was such a thrill!
