Christmas Day

Spent the morning at home giving gifts and playing with them, Skyped with Papa & Oatsie, and did some cooking and baking.

Went to Mom and Dad's for dinner. They got each granddaughter a necklace with their name engraved, a pearl, and their birthstone, along with a lovely letter. They got each grandson a warrior weapon.

I made a chocolate cake, and we sang to Chris. Happy 37th!

And then we drove home, totally tuckered out.

Christmas Eve

Today was the annual Eaton family Nativity play/talent show. We all met at the church by Jenny's house, ate breakfast, and put on quite a show. For the Nativity play, Olive got to sing a sweet little solo about Mary and Joseph, Lucy was a shepherd, and George was a wise man. For the talent show, they sang (albeit very quietly) the Chipmunks' Christmas song. Chris and I sang "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," and he played the guitar. It was scary and thrilling to do that, I loved it. After the show ended our family hung out with Jenny's at her house, had lunch, and then went sledding. As always, the kids had a blast. We headed home after that. The kids took a bath and got in their Christmas jammies, we Skyped with Papa and Oatsie, and then they went to bed. Now Chris and I are wrapping presents and wishing there was a real Santa to do all this work.

Santa!

We visited Santa tonight. The older 3 and I have been talking for a few weeks about going to see him, and what we would do and say when we got there. Every year all the kids have cried when we've gone to see him, so I was curious about whether this year would be any different. We went 2 for 4 this time! I plopped Penelope down on Santa's lap, and she immediately started crying and pulling his beard. Olive sat on his other leg, and nervously recited, "I would like a Hello Kitty jack-in-the-box." Lucy cried and clung to Chris. And then George stepped right up to Santa and said, "Santa Claus, I want a Spiderman." That was the very cutest moment of the night in my opinion. Then we wanted to have a picture taken, but it took a little convincing to get George to stop staring at Santa. All in all, it was a quick, fun, funny experience.
