We got a new dog today!! Miss Jo had told me recently about a dog whose owner was probably going to relinquish his rights, and being that we were in the market I asked her to keep me posted. Well today was the day! She put me in touch with the owner, we went and visited Ike at the animal shelter, and then the owner brought him to us this afternoon. He's a lab/Shar pei mix. He looks mostly like a lab, although a little smaller, with a few Shar pei type wrinkles in his face. They said he may even have some Pitt bull in him. Whatever he is, he is the sweetest dog. I cannot believe how lucky we are to have happened upon a dog so docile and sweet. He hasn't barked or jumped up once all day, even though this has been a long confusing day for him. He is amazing with the kids. Even Lucy went from total panic attack to holding the leash to petting him to kissing his face goodnight. Olive has taken ownership of the whole situation. She and Ike have become fast friends. He took a nap on her bed today, and he's asleep with her now. He's fantastic. We're thrilled.
