Our First Week in Ogden

We got off to a little bit of a rocky start here in Ogden, at least in some ways. The AC didn't work during record heat and it was while we were unloading the truck and unpacking boxes, we inherited colossal plumbing issues which resulted in soaked floors and carpets in the basement, the garbage disposal was broken, our property manager was exceedingly unpleasant, and that's all just to name the big stuff. For me, it has felt really heavy. I mean, I was already so heartsick about leaving our Boulder City loves and about the change from a quaint, small town to an unfamiliar bigger city. And it was already a pretty tough thing to try and settle our home while keeping the kids happy and while being supportive to Chris before he started his new job. So needless to say, my usual anxious self has been extraordinarily anxious. But! We've had some real delights this week too. The weather, for one. A few thunderstorms already! The kids have really enjoyed the rain and the cooler temps, and they love playing in the yard and driveway. We bought some lovely furniture, and a cute little older model Mercedes. Olive threw that bad boy in reverse while it was parked in the driveway, and it started to roll backward before Chris saved the day, so we learned an important lesson there. We got passes to the dinosaur park and the Treehouse Museum, we found the library, and we signed the girls up for preschool. The AC and plumbing and garbage disposal all got fixed, the property manager is being a lot nicer, and things are looking up. We're trying to make ourselves at home. We're ready to get into the swing of things here in Ogden.
